Tegallalang Rice Terrace Trek
About
The Tegallalang rice terraces are among the most photographed landscapes in Southeast Asia, and rightly so. The terraces follow the ancient Balinese subak irrigation system — a UNESCO-recognised cultural practice over 1,000 years old. A network of paths winds through the working fields, passing small warungs selling fresh coconuts and traditional snacks. Several platforms offer the famous 'Bali swing' experience, launching you over the jungle canopy for a few seconds of breathtaking airtime. The best light is in the early morning or late afternoon when golden hour transforms the green into something luminous.

Arrive before 8am to beat the coach tours. Small entrance fees (around 15,000 IDR) are requested at various points on the path — this is legitimate and supports local families.
