Ubud Traditional Art Market
About
Directly across from the Ubud Royal Palace, this two-floor market is the beating commercial heart of Ubud. The ground floor is all handicrafts, carvings, and woven baskets. The upper floor specialises in clothing — flowing cotton dresses, batik shirts, hand-dyed sarongs, and light linen suitable for hot weather. Nearly everything is handmade by local artisans from surrounding villages. Prices are extremely negotiable: starting offers are typically 2–3x the fair value, so don't be shy about countering aggressively. Best visited early morning (7–9am) when it's cooler and less crowded.

💡 Insider Tip
Start browsing on the upper floor — less foot traffic and the sellers are marginally less aggressive. Walk away slowly when bargaining — nine times out of ten they'll call you back with a better price.
